Build an event taxonomy your whole team can use

Clear naming, accountable ownership, and useful context prevent analytics debt before it starts.

An event taxonomy is a shared language for customer behaviour. Keep names based on observable actions, not temporary interface labels. A pattern such as object_action can stay understandable when screens change.

Capture context deliberately

Properties should answer likely follow-up questions: which plan, channel, region, device, or step? Avoid collecting personal data simply because it is available. Your measurement plan should define permitted values and the business reason for each field.

Make changes reviewable

Assign an owner, keep the dictionary close to product delivery, and review proposed events before release. A short quality gate is less expensive than reconciling duplicate definitions later.

Make it practical

Your analytics should match the decisions, timing, and responsibilities of your own team. If you want an independent view of your current setup, we can map a focused next step.
